Ellis Lankster, Darrin Walls Agree to Terms

Posted Mar 5, 2014

2 Stay with Jets Ahead of Tuesday Start to Unrestricted Free Agency

We have agreed to terms with CB Ellis Lankster and CB Darrin Walls.

Lankster, who would have become an unrestricted free agent Tuesday if he hadn't re-signed with us, last season was in for 382 special teams plays — most on the Green & White, despite missing a game due to injury — and had 20 kick-coverage tackles, second on the team behind Nick Bellore's 27 tackles.

He was taken in the seventh round of the 2009 draft by the Bills, then came to us in '11, when he played sparingly yet came up with a pair of special teams fumble recoveries. Then he got up to speed in '12 on defense, with his first two pro interceptions and his first pro sack, and specials.

Walls, who could have become a restricted free agent, played in all 16 games (three starts at LCB in Games 4-6) last season and recorded career highs with 24 defensive tackles and five passes defensed. The Notre Dame product began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent for the Falcons in 2011.
