REPORT: Decker to Visit Jets Today

Posted Mar 12, 2014

After a quiet first day on the free agency front, NFL Network’s Kim Jones tweeted this morning that the Jets will host free agent wide receiver Eric Decker Wednesday.

The 6’3”, 214-pound Decker, who will turn 27 Saturday, played his first four pro seasons with the Denver Broncos.  He was wildly productive the past two seasons, teaming up with Peyton Manning to average 86 receptions, 1,176 yards and 12 TDs.  A third-round pick (No. 87 overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft, Decker played collegiately at Minnesota and totaled 228 receptions for 3,119 yards with 24 TDs.

Despite the numbers, Decker has consistently referred to Demaryius Thomas as the Broncos No. 1 receiver.  Many pundits have tabbed Decker as the top receiver on the market.  The Jets, who released Santonio Holmes on Monday, are in need of an upgrade at the position.  Their top three receivers currently under contract are Jeremy Kerley, David Nelson and Stephen Hill.  The Green & White also could have as many as 12 draft picks in May and this is considered a deep WR class.
