As one would expect, “Boss Hog” isn’t satisfied. After NFL Network ranked Jets DT
@mowilkerson thanks bro it's just a start— Sheldon Richardson (@Godforshort) May 11, 2014
While Richardson’s initial reaction was gratitude, the fierceness of the competitor came out in that second tweet. Anybody thinking that Richardson might want to rest on his laurels after being named Defensive Rookie of the Year might want to think again.
The 6’2”, 294-pound Richardson, who collected 101 tackles and 3.5 sacks and also tied William “The Refrigerator” Perry for most TDs in a career by a defensive lineman with two, will be better in Year 2. He will benefit from participating in strength coach Justus Galac’s offseason program for the first time and the competition amongst that talented D-line extends well beyond the playing field. Richardson, who was selected 13th overall in the 2013 Draft, has a non-stop motor and his athletic ability and COD skills for a defensive tackle are beyond unique.
‘When he first got drafted, I was like he might be a little small for a defensive lineman,” said LB
There are a few others Jets who should/could make NFLN’s The Top 100 Players of 2014. We think Richardson will be sending a congratulatory tweet to Big Mo in the weeks ahead.
