WR DeSean Jackson is a Free Agent

Posted Mar 28, 2014

One of the most electrifying wide receivers in the National Football League is now on the open market.  The Philadelphia Eagles released the following statement Friday afternoon:

After careful consideration during this off-season, the Philadelphia Eagles have decided to part ways with DeSean Jackson. The team informed him of his release today. Jackson, 27, was drafted by the Eagles in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He recorded 356 catches for 6,117 yards in his six seasons with the team.

The 5’10”, 175-pound Jackson set career-highs last season with 82 receptions and 1,332 yards while his nine receiving scores tied a personal-best.  In six seasons with Philly, the deep threat totaled 105 catches of 20 yards and 35 receptions of 40 yards.

Currently the Green & White have nine receivers on their roster.  Eric Decker was already brought in to help the NFL’s 31st pass offense while Jeremy Kerley led the squad with 43 receptions in 2013.

“We’re not done. I’ll bet you anything we end up making another move at receiver, somewhere along the line,” Rex Ryan told reporters earlier this week at the NFL owners meetings in Orlando, FL.  “It might not be the moves you want us to make, but ... how many picks we have now, 12 picks? I bet we take a shot.”
