The New York Jets will unveil the fifth annual Flight Crew Cheerleaders swimsuit calendar when it goes on sale this Friday, July 26.
The 16-month calendar showcases the cheerleaders shot on location in the Cayman Islands earlier this year. The 2014 swimsuit calendar will be available at Jets Shop — the training camp shop at SUNY Cortland and at jetsshop.com — starting Friday. All swimwear and accessories for the calendar shoot were provided by Bloomingdale’s. The Cayman Islands, JetBlue and New York Sports Club are proud partners of the New York Jets Flight Crew.
“This is our best calendar yet,” said Flight Crew director Denise Garvey. “The locations were beautiful and the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism was welcoming, helpful and gracious, making our trip memorable and our calendar shoot a success.”
“The Cayman Islands is delighted to have had the opportunity to host the esteemed New York Jets Flight Crew for their 2014 Swimsuit Calendar,” said director of tourism Shomari Scott. “With so many stunning beaches and naturally beautiful areas to choose from in the Cayman Islands, the only difficulty we had was selecting which ones to feature in the calendar. The Jets run a very professional operation and it was a pleasure to work with the team on this assignment. It is our hope that by engaging in innovative and mutually beneficial partnerships such as this, awareness of the Cayman Islands as a leading vacation destination will be magnified, and will encourage Jets fans to visit our shores to experience firsthand all that our Islands have to offer.”
Grand Cayman beaches and landmarks provided picturesque backdrops for Flight Crew swimsuit calendar photographer Daisy Johnson. Johnson, daughter of Jets owner Woody Johnson, is an experienced photographer now in her third year shooting the Flight Crew swimsuit calendar. Behind-the-scenes shots of Johnson at work and excursion photos from the Cayman Islands trip can be found at newyorkjets.com/flightcrew.
The Flight Crew arrived in the Cayman Islands aboard the NY Jets-branded JetBlue plane. It marked the first time the Jets' JetBlue plane was in the Cayman Islands. When the Flight Crew cheerleaders weren’t busy shooting for the calendar, they spent time exploring both Grand Cayman and Little Cayman.
Everyone on location had a chance to experience what it means to be "CaymanKind" while exploring the destination. Excursions included swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Discovery Grand Cayman and with stingrays at Stingray City with Red Sail Sports, and paddle-boarding at the Southern Cross Club on Owen Island, Little Cayman, among many other outings. Accommodations for the entire squad and calendar shoot crew were provided by Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort. Photos of these adventures are highlighted in the 2014 calendar and more can be seen at newyorkjets.com.
